Fiumanka and partners / SPONSORS

The city of Rijeka and Fiumanka are inextricably linked by sails

Dear citizens of Rijeka, respected participants, guests and friends of Fiumanka,
Welcome to Rijeka – a city that flows, a city that lives with the sea and, traditionally, sails again!
Fiumanka, our regatta with a soul, is once again gathering sailors, sea lovers and numerous visitors this year, confirming its special place in the sporting, social and cultural life of our city. For the 26th year in a row, Rijeka is becoming the stage for a unique event that combines sport, togetherness, sustainability and good fun – values that form the core of Fiumanka, but also the identity of our Rijeka.
Fiumanka is not just a regatta – it is a community that can be felt in every wind in the sails, in every smile on the waterfront, in every encounter by the sea. It is a combination of tradition and future – from the children's Paper Fiumanka and STEM workshops, to panels on sustainability and concerts by the sea. We greatly appreciate the contribution of all partners, sponsors and media who tirelessly support this Rijeka story under sail and help it grow, develop and spread its voice far beyond the borders of our city every year.
In the week when Rijeka celebrates City Day and the feast of St. Vitus, Fiumanka proves once again that the sea is not a border, but a space of connection. We invite you to join us, whether at sea or on land, and, together with us, experience all the charms of this Rijeka regatta with soul.
Iva Rincic, Mayor of the City of Rijeka

For a quarter of a century, Fiumanka has been brilliantly promoting our Kvarner

Dear sailors and friends of Fiumanka,

This year's 26th Fiumanka confirms the status of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County as an attractive destination for sailors and the further development of nautical tourism in Kvarner.
The Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, as a sponsor of Fiumanka since the first edition, continues to support this event that promotes Kvarner as a nautical destination through a regatta that has become synonymous with sailing and a brand that promotes Kvarner on the tourist and sports map of Europe, in a region that will hold two prestigious titles in 2026 - the title of European Region of Sports and European Region of Gastronomy.

The importance of Fiumanka lies in preserving our maritime heritage and encouraging togetherness, maintaining valuable centuries-old traditions, but also in opening up space for new ideas and a platform for promoting sustainable development, the exchange of new knowledge, technologies and economic progress. Fiumanka is a blend of tradition and innovation, which brings together the community around a shared love of the sea.

The strength and potential are best illustrated by the figures, according to which this year's Fiumanka will attract more than 150 vessels and around 1500 sailors from the country and abroad, as well as as many as ten thousand spectators. I congratulate the organizers of Fiumanka, who are sailing in bora and calm. You will always have support in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. I wish all participants that Eol will be kind to them and that the bora will fill their sails and bring them lots of points. Good luck to everyone on the regatta field of the most beautiful bay in the world!

Ivica Lukanović,
Prefect of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County

Fiumanka contributes to the recognition of Rijeka and its port

Fiumanka is a symbol of sailing excellence and proof of the lasting partnership between the Port of Rijeka Authority and its founders, numerous organizers and sponsors. For more than a quarter of a century, systematic and dedicated work has been done to develop this regatta to become one of the most prestigious Croatian sailing events.

In sports, just like in business, excellence and constant progress are sought. It is precisely this commitment to development, resilience, ability to adapt and professional reliability in challenging and unpredictable circumstances that have contributed to the growth and success of Fiumanka.

Its achievements have been particularly instrumental in the transformation and revitalization of the passenger port in Rijeka. It all started in 2008 with the opening of access to the Rijeka Breakwater for citizens and visitors, followed by the construction of the Port Control Center and the renovation of the entire passenger port area. Through a series of infrastructure projects – the construction of additional berths, the renovation of facilities on the breakwater, the expansion of energy capacity and the development of green areas – the port has transformed from a closed port area in the very heart of the city into a vital, attractive and modern tourist and nautical center. The docking of cruise ships and the resolution of long-standing restrictions on larger-draft ships have further strengthened the recognition of Rijeka as a nautical destination.

These projects, united as part of the comprehensive investment cycle of the Rijeka Port Authority, opened up new opportunities for Fiumanka - enabling it to develop in an environment that fully supports its mission and ambitions.

Fiumanka simultaneously follows contemporary trends, actively involving the local community and economic and media partners from Croatia and Europe. Through accompanying conferences, fairs, exhibitions and initiatives, the regatta has consistently opened up space for discussions on current topics such as sustainable development and preservation of the sea as an important tourist and economic resource, while also striving to reduce the regatta's impact on the environment.

Through joint efforts, a sporting event has been created that goes beyond the boundaries of a sailing event - Fiumanka brings people together, encourages a sense of belonging and pride, promotes maritime culture and economic development, and strongly contributes to the reputation and identity of the Port of Rijeka.

We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership. The Port Authority actively participates in the organization and hospitality during Fiumanka, opening the port to sailors and all lovers of the sea. Fiumanka reminds us once again that great successes can be achieved through dedicated work, cooperation and vision.

HRT, media partner and co-organizer of Fiumanka, will once again unfurl its sails at the Rijeka regatta this year

Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), as our main and only public media service in Croatia, will once again set sail this year at the 26th Fiumanka, which will be held from June 9 to 14, 2025, and, as one of its co-organizers, will once again participate in the international media regattas in the Kvarner Bay.

Namely, the crew of the Croatian Radio Television (HRT) has been participating in Fiumanka since the very beginning, and since 2007 in the media regatta. On the occasion of the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union in 2013, Croatian Radio and Television assumed the status of one of the co-organizers of the media regatta. The regatta was raised to the European level, as one of the programs marking that important day in Croatian history - and has been held under the name European Media Sailing Race ever since.

I wish our crew to be decorated with one of the trophies this year, and we wish all colleagues from other media, as well as the participants of Fiumanka, good luck on the regatta field - and good wind in the sails!

Robert Schweb,
general director of Croatian Radio and Television

Kvarner - a place where maritime tradition and modern nautical tourism meet

Kvarner i.e. the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is a climate where one of the main occupations in the past was fishing, shipbuilding, seafaring or sailing. The saying "You have to sail" best describes this tradition of ours.

The Kvarner Bay offers ideal conditions for nautical pleasures: plenty of sun, warm sea, favorable winds and untouched nature. Therefore, today we proudly boast the most beautiful nautical transversals in the Mediterranean. With luxuriously decorated marinas along the coast and the Kvarner islands, small city harbors and picturesque harbors, Kvarner is becoming a place where miles pass like seconds. It is no wonder that some of the world's best sailors and windsurfers come from this region. That is why nautical tourism has become one of the key branches of tourism in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and investments in the construction of new marinas, the expansion of existing ports, the construction of anchorages and the renewal of charter fleets testify to the commitment to the development of this segment. The tourism results achieved in the nautical segment in 2024 confirm that Kvarner is a recognizable destination on the nautical map. Namely, in 2024, sailors achieved 163 thousand overnight stays, which is an increase of 5% compared to 2019. Nautical charter was most sought after among guests from Germany, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

However, as a region that lives on the sea and from the sea, we are aware that our sea is an invaluable natural resource that we must take care of. Therefore, we are jointly obliged to responsibly manage this valuable natural resource.

In addition to the nautical offer in terms of tourism, we want to show, share and enjoy with others everything that makes up our rich Kvarner maritime heritage today. That is why, with the help of EU funds through the Mala barka, Mala barka 2 and Arca Adriatica projects, we have renovated traditional vessels – wooden boats and boats, encouraged the preservation and transfer of knowledge of traditional wooden shipbuilding, collected tangible and intangible heritage and made it available in the modern virtual world. In this way, we have ensured that this heritage is preserved for future generations, and at the same time we have made it accessible and attractive to a wider audience through museum exhibitions and interpretation centres. Sailing has a special role in the promotion of nautical tourism and the image of our county. The Fiumanka Regatta, which has been held for more than two and a half decades, significantly contributes to the promotion and development of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County as a nautical tourism destination.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the organizers, Fiumanka has grown into an event that combines sports, tourism, economy and entertainment. And that is exactly why it has become a favorite event, not only for the people of Rijeka but also for the wider area, regardless of whether they sail or not. Let Fiumanka 2025 in the beautiful setting of our Kvarner be a regatta to remember, and we wish all participants good luck, exciting sailing and good fun!

director of the Tourist Board of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County

The river is shaped by the synergy of maritime skills and rich history

Rijeka and the lives of its inhabitants have always been inextricably linked to the sea – the source of life, identity and economic opportunities. Rijeka's waters are where the tradition of seafaring, shipbuilding, transport and rich history meet, creating the city's unique character.

Fiumanka is not just a regatta. It is an event that every year reaffirms the identity of Rijeka – a city that lives with the sea, a city that prides itself on its openness, hospitality and tradition. During these days, Rijeka becomes a stage for encounters – sporting, cultural, musical and tourist.

The strategic goal of the Rijeka Tourist Board is to strengthen the city as a recognizable nautical destination, with Fiumanka playing an important role with a recognizable brand among sailing enthusiasts around the world. The increasing attendance and visibility show that everyone involved is doing a good job and that we have reason to invest effort in promoting Fiumanka on domestic and foreign markets. Over the years, Fiumanka has become an important part of Rijeka's identity and a symbol of a city facing the sea, and thanks to great media exposure, Rijeka has become internationally recognized as an attractive center of sailing. Therefore, the Rijeka Tourist Board highlights Fiumanka as an important part of its tourist offer. I would like to thank the organizers who, with great passion and dedication, have been creating an event that goes beyond the boundaries of sport for 26 years. I would also like to thank all partners, volunteers and citizens of Rijeka, without whom Fiumanka would not be what it is.

Petar Škarpa, director of the Rijeka Tourist Board
